SAN DIEGO, April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (AMCC) (Nasdaq: AMCC) today reported its financial results for the fourth quarter and year ended March 31, 2000.

Net revenues for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2000 were $57.0 million, an increase of 98% over the $28.7 million reported in the same period of fiscal 1999. Net income for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2000 was $20.6 million, or $0.16 per share, an increase of 514% over the $3.4 million, or $0.03 per share reported in the same period of fiscal 1999 ($5.6 million or $0.05 per share excluding the $2.3 million of merger-related costs incurred in the 4th quarter of fiscal 1999).

Sequentially, net revenues for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2000 increased 25% over the $45.8 million reported in the previous quarter. Net income for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2000 increased 70% over the $12.1 million, or $0.10 per share, reported in the previous quarter.

Net revenues for the year ended March 31, 2000 were $172.4 million, up 64% over the net revenues of $105.0 million for the year ended March 31, 1999. Net income for the year ended March 31, 2000, was $48.6 million, or $0.41 per share, up 184% over net income of $17.1 million, or $0.16 per share, for the year ended March 31, 1999 ($19.4 million or $0.18 per share, excluding the $2.3 million of merger related costs incurred in the prior year)....
