From Sandspring Investment Advisors: May 4 looms

sandspring.com

I continue to be amazed at the strength in the dollar as trade deficits swell to record levels and the US markets are no longer a one way bet. Wonder if Clinton is threatening to bomb anybody who dumps dollars.

Actually Don Hays and THE CONTRARY INVESTOR have quite similar outlooks. Some differences on details but both feel we are now entering a secular bear market that ultimately will drive stock prices much lower.

Heinz, the DXY rising topz line from weekly bars of 8/21/98 - 7/16/99 and 3/3/00 is being touched today and slightly penetrated. During the week of 3/3 intra week we popped way above the trendline and did a gravestone doji and since then have been meandering sideways. I believe the $ is topping right here, also from looking at the SPX chart that did a shooting start top on 3/24 with the first leg down into 4/4 and the 2nd leg down into last friday, I'm giving this a shot that we are now in a wave 4 corrective rally and the next leg down could be a whole shebang wave. I think safe trading (full body condom -ggg-) is in order here, just in case this count proves to be true..
