How soon do you think we'll see DDR-800?

It is not clear to me that this sort of bandwidth is required until CPU's get well above 10GHz, which is probably more than 5 years away.

They can improve the speed and they can make the datapath wider. How soon do you think we'll see DDR-800?

I don't know know what you call speed. Let's stick to latency and bandwidth. Is Rambus going to cut the latency in half? If the answer is yes, than what you say about future version RDRAM is positive. But if all Rambus is doing is improving bandwidth, it will have smaller and smaller effect on the performance, since the typical applications are generally not bandwidth limited. Just look at comparisons of 820 and 840 chipsets. The improvement of the double bandwidth is hardly noticeable.
