Just to clarify, it is the biggest PRODUCT announcement in EMC history, not THE biggest announcement in EMC history. It is pretty much an open secret that the product is SAN related and there is speculation on the Ancor (ANCR) threads that it will include support for fibre channel switches provided by vendors other than McData. Two respected posters have stated that the Ancor switch installation documentation has been distributed, in volume, to the EMC field personnel. Currently, it is expected that EMC will dual source both Ancor and Brocade's fibre channel switches with speculation that the DG Clariion line will continue to use Brocade and the NEW product line will use Ancor's. It should be noted that Brocade is NOT a member of the Fibre Alliance. I must reiterate that this is pure speculation and does not address McData's role. I should also state that I am an Ancor (as well as EMC) long and fervently hope that some of this speculation is at least partially true. As it happens, Ancor is announcing earnings that day (the 25th). Coincidence?
