Yep, that 'explosive' demand resulted in Intel reporting a huge 3% increase in microprocessor revenue when compared to the same quarter last year...

John

"The Intel Architecture Business Group, which makes PC components, saw revenues increase 3 percent, from $6.4 billion to $6.6 billion, from the first quarter last year. Profits for the same period for this division grew 7 percent, from $2.9 billion to $3.1 billion."

GVTucker re: When you examine the data that way (IBM down and GTW/AAPL up), the conclusion that I draw is that consumer demand is on fire, and corporate demand is merely adequate, although recovering from Y2K at least. This environment hardly favors DELL with their over reliance on the corporate market.

Thanks for the alternate view. Could you suggest how IBM's quarter which includes January and excludes April relates to Dell. I would very much appreciate it. In regards to INTC and chip availability, there is a ramp in introduction of new products and I don't see any surprise one way or another on possible chip constraints. I am focusing on Dell's outlook of +30% growth for the year and will not let my expectations get carried away.
Best
Mike
