Mike,

Here's another you can add to you list of FO test equipment vendors:
fiberoptics.wwgsolutions.com

I have a relative at the company and last January I demoed the 5100 series OTDR:
fiberoptics.wwgsolutions.com

In its basic configuration it is about $23K retail, with all the bells and whistles, over $30K.

Re: Also, I still don't know how to evaluate the sector.
The real question you might want to ask yourself is 'why bother?' And the reason I say that is that this is a cut-throat arena with no clear winners and a constantly evoloving playing field. Much like the video card sector, whoever is the market leader today can be pretty much guaranteed to be superceded by the next great thing from another vendor within two quarters. Far better to stick to the guys who have IPR leads, are selling components into the network market, or who have unassailable franchises ( a la QCOM).

But test? Fuggedaboutit....

Ciao, Ray

Mike, I am "very far" from fully qualified to answer your
question ... However I'll just burn some bandwidth with the
following:

Today TLGD shows an EPS Growth Rate of 23.5%,
a P/E of 55.94, and a Market Cap of about 745 Million.

Their current Earnings Report indicate that
DigiTest System & Lighthouse Cable Status Monitoring products account for only about 14 1/2 percent of this quarter's sales.

Apparently they are a bit more that just an equipment testing and monitoring company, and they have other (related) products, as well as Consulting and Knowledge services.

This is supposed to be a technology oriented thread,
so I'd best cut this short ..

An overview is at tollgrade.com
Telecom Products are at
tollgrade.com

Site Map (for general makeup of the company)
is at tollgrade.com

I suspect that they will continue a rapid expansion as long as the "DSL explosion" exists; IE if there really is one :-)

And Yes, it does look like lots of this expensive stuff
gets "buried" into company sites. :-)
Best,
Mardy.
