I don't think Barret is very hands on. Having said that, the poor planning may not be his fault since I am not sure when he became President.

Barrett was executive vice president of operations before. That's essentially the same job.

Exactly.
When I read an interview with him, I read about the internet revolution and how everything is going to change dramatically, etc...

But that's not what I want to hear from Intel. I think they are jealous on Cisco. They see Cisco's success and think "we can do the same". I blame it on Barett, but maybe this thinking is common all over top management.

It's very dangerous. I've seen a good company acting that way, copying somebody else's business plan, or at least trying to, and completely fail. In the mean time, they pissed off the former customers so badly, they never recovered.

Of course this wasn't a company intel's size.

But you miss my point. Almost anyone wouldn't look good compared to Andy Grove. Partially for the reasons you pointed out.
