The Europeans are classic case of denial. It is kind of hard for the European to swallow that they are no longer own the whole planet. "Not invented Here" syndrome was rooted so deep that anything that not invented in Europe is practically roadblock by EU. If government subsidize and intervention are the envies of the world then how come the EU ecomomies still stucked in the hole and unemployment can run as high as 10%+ in some countries in Europe.

21th century is no longer belong to Europe. Right now, it is the USA that matter, later maybe the East Asia that matter. European standards mostly are roadblocks designed by EU to give the European some badly needed competitive advantages over US or Japanese companies. It is a miracle that half of Europe agreed on the Euro Dollar, BTW, US dollar still the King of International currency. So accepted that European standard is no longer matter, Live with it.
