You didn't read what I wrote very closely, Michael. I know this because of the inadequacy of your paraphrase and the evident self-satisfaction you derive from your understanding. Conservatives seek government intrusion for any cause or agenda they see as advantageous to them or their ideology. Conservatives (at this time) generally see themselves as advantaged by fewer specific government intrusions than do liberals (being against so many social and environmental programs), and so they advocate fewer, seeking advantage , as is usual among our species. Where government intrusion into private life is concerned, conservatives advocate nothing against their interest. They seek government intrusion wherever they can use it to gain their ends and bend others to their will. Conservatives' sanctimonious self-congratulation regarding their advocacy of "less" government intrusion into private lives is entirely unwarranted. It is, in fact, ridiculous. Let me say it again. Conservatives wish government intrusion whenever they can get some advantage out of it. They think there's more in it for them at this time to get government less involved in a number of areas, and therefore advocate that, but do not manifest any lesser degree of love of government force and intrusion on private lives. There is no principle or ethics producing this issues&numbers artifact. There is only self interest. Conservatives love government force and intrusion, Michael, and will continue to push for it to advantage themselves and their agenda at every opportunity. Yes, they certainly do "wish to intercede in our lives at the same level liberals do." They just aren't getting their way on quite as many fronts at this moment. At no time will their wish lessen, however. They are frothing at the mouth for more government intrusion, Michael-- on the side of their issues. I believe you will be unable to supply a link to any post in which have called myself "a moderate." The word "moderate" as applied to me was generated by your own mind. Which is kind of interesting. I see no progress whatever in our exchanges. They are too repetitive. Bear with me if I reply to you from now on by repasting my past posts.
