Thanks for the great simplified lesson, Poet. Am especially thankful for a good teacher now as a mentor of mine died recently (hope this isn't too morbid for the thread, but as a professor I REALLY appreciate good teaching!) I'm going back to page one of Roth to re-read. For now two more beginner's questions: Who are the favorite brokers who would take $25K and give me "permission" to do this online. (Use etrade now and am a bit afraid of using them for LEAPS...possibly needlessly so) Is there good software out there that would let me plot what-if's to learn a bit more about the consequences of various decisions? Also, let me know if simple questions are good for other newbies or should be private messages. Thanks so much again! Richard
