Hi Pat: <<follow the TSIX IPO yesterday?>> No just too busy with other things, usually don't do IPO's from the gate, but you are right, it could have promise. A good one to keep track of.

Williams wraps us $215 mln networking pact with Cogent

April 25, 2000 07:19 AM
TULSA, Okla., April 25 (Reuters) - Williams Communications Group WCG , which provides services to telecommunications carriers through its fiber-optic network, said Tuesday it has completed a $215 million agreement to provide network services and dark fiber, a kind of optical fiber, to Internet service provider Cogent Communications.

As part of the agreement, Williams is leasing more than 12,400 route miles on its nationwide network to privately-held Cogent. Williams will provide ongoing network maintenance and colocation services throughout the agreement.

Cogent plans to initially use the fiber to provide high-speed Internet access services to commercial businesses.

The companies said in a statement they have also entered into a long-term relationship in which Williams will serve as the preferred provider of all network services Cogent may need to support its business.

Shares of Williams closed at 35-1/2.
