I am not happy with the methods used to return Elian. Nor am I happy that he is being returned to a backward country with little real regard to his welfare.
However, law in the US and internationally is clear that children are to be returned to their parents in situations like this, unless the surviving parent is in some way incapacitated or has few redeeming qualities.
Unfortunately, that is not the case with Juan Miguel.

What I find more hypocritical is the way the Miami Cubans, who presumably came to the US because they didn't like totalitarian misuse of the rule of law, FLAUNTED the rule of law. They knew well what the courts would, and had, to rule.
What I find even more curious is the way they tear up their own neighborhoods after the fact.
