George P...

My original feelings on this issue - up untill the last week here fwiw; were that the child belonged with his surviving parent - end of subject.

But ! - when I finally looked into the story in depth; it was an immediate easy decision.

The greatest factor is that the child's father has not been allowed an environment to freely express his true wishes - in American Court he would have been able to do so... and I would bet everything I own; he would claim assylum not just for his son, but for himeself and his family the minute he stepped foot on free soil away from his controllers .

I think Clinton knows that, Castro surely does and I think we do too.

Thousands have died defending and seeking the opportunity for freedom of American Soil - after really looking into this story; I now know why the Cuban community is so up in arms on this issue.

This child will NOT be returning to the humanity & warmth of his family - he will be going into a deprogramming boot camp program.

If this was 1942 and the child was a Jew and his German Jew father was accompanied to America under the guard of "SS" Gestapo Storm Troopers; and the father was never allowed to express his true and free opinion away from the intimidation and control of his guard/handler/controllers - would we let that Child go back to the death camps of Nazi Germany - just because his father had "parental rights" ?

... now, I know that is an extreme example and comparison and I do not mean to minimize what the Jew's faced at the hands of Nazi Germany & Hitler or to draw an equal comparison to present day Cuba; but - the immediate emotional and logical reaction that anyone would have to NOT sending ANY child back to such cirmcumstances; drives home the point that the Cuban American community is making here - that we have NO IDEA what this child "IS" going to be facing in his return to Cuba.

His mother gave her life so that her child could be free.

His father allready gave his blessing to the family in Miami and asked for them to take care of him.

That we took away this child's chance at a life of Freedom via the hands of "Jack Booted Thugs" in this manner only adds insult to injury.

At the very least; this Child deserved the right to exhaust all legal options - we give that much to serial killers, but not to a 6 year old child whose mother gave her life so that he could breathe the breath of freedom on American soil ?

Socialism is alive and well in America - perhaps soon in New York State as well...
