Simple question to the thread:
What was the big hurry to grab the kid?
Wasn't the kid to appear in court in 3 weeks anyway?
If the ruling goes against the grand-uncle, then the Marshalls could take the kid then, with little or no risk.
What was the big hurry to kick the door down?

Dick

First and foremost, I am a NY state resident, and Rodham most certainly will not be getting my vote. I have zero tolerance for having an Arkansan wishing to puff up her ego representing me, who was born, raised, and still lives in NY (the state, not the city - some believe little else exists except for the city!).
Well, I got that off my chest, but I am getting quite tired of all the political hay being made, and media numbers being improved, focusing on and manipulating 6 year old's life.
I simply feel it's time to move on - a Son's place is with his Father, providing the Father is competent, which appears to be the case in this instance. This country has far more pressing matters to deal with, and there are young children in far more distress than Elian who are getting not a single bit of attention.

>The greatest factor is that the child's father has not been allowed an environment to freely express his true wishes - in American Court he would have been able to do so...
and I would bet everything I own; he would claim assylum not just for his son, but for himeself and his family the minute he stepped foot on free soil away from his controllers.

You seem so sure about this...you probably feel the same about the direction of the market in any given day too...IMHO, the father has been adamant from day one of this travesty that he wants to live in Cuba and nothing to the contrary has made me change my mind on this issue yet. Maybe he is a Communist and he likes Castro...so what? He is now united with his little son and that is what was at stake here.

>I think Clinton knows that, Castro surely does and I think we do too.

Are you a pshychic or something?

>This child will NOT be returning to the humanity & warmth of his family - he will be going into a deprogramming boot camp program.

None of our business. To me, Juan Miguel looks to be a fit parent. End of story. Anything in Cuba is probably better than being paraded constantly like a circus animal by a family of drunks and criminals who had the audacity to even fly to go see Elian after abusing him for almost six months (radio just said they were turned away from the Air Force base, Love it!, no free booze, make them walk back to Miami!)

>If this was 1942...

It is not, snap out of it...Keeping a little boy hostage away from his daddy is not the way to solve our differences with Castro.

>His father allready gave his blessing to the family in Miami and asked for them to take care of him.

BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!Juan Miguel never knew about Elian's mother's intentions...and he certainly thinks that Lazaro is a drunk...and worthless to take care of even himself!

For the rest of your post, all I can say is WHAT????????
