<What was the big hurry to grab the kid?>

Bingo !

... did you notice all the "Candidates" running for cover on this issue lately ?

They all wanted it to just - go away and it did.

To not let the legal system play out here was a tragedy. But, it was far more politically expedient to just "get rid of it" ...

Again, not a trival matter that Clinton's former personal attorney - Greg Craig was Castro's legal representative !?!?!

I didn't inhale, Mena, Vince Foster, the FBI files, Hillary the worlds greatest options trader !, Whitewater, the parade of female victims & lawsuits, rape allegations, cigars, the lies, perjury, that woman, you people, what "is - is", it takes a village, Waco, Elian, Jack Booted Thugs - but, I feel your pain Elian... the legacy continues...

Truly a sad day to be an American... again; would this child be going back to Castro's Cuba if Ronald Regan were President ? - was it the legal system that failed us, or our leaders ?

I hope they do the right thing in New York State and stop the madness...

"What was the big hurry to grab the kid?"

Simple answer: His father, his only rightful guardian, wanted custody. The sanctity of the bond between parent and child is more important than the politics.

Hurry to grab?

Element of surprise perhaps. Easier to accomplish if they don't know what time you're coming.

I thought it was risky to use INS troops. The Delta Force might have been able to do it more quietly.

The problem with keeping the boy separate from his father is the potential for alienation. When two sides are fighting for custody, they're in effect trying to alienate the boy from the other side. These could impact on the boy's appearance in a custody hearing. Both sides were making wild claims about the other side --- "drunken uncles", "child abuse", and so on.

Mr. BSL,

What's the Big Hurry???

Do you have children? Suppose you are kept away from one of your children for a week how would you feel?

Juan was kept away from his son for over 5 months.

One more day would have been one day too many.

Vince
