"What was the big hurry to grab the kid?"

Simple answer: His father, his only rightful guardian, wanted custody. The sanctity of the bond between parent and child is more important than the politics.

Is the sanctity of this bond so important that it can't wait three weeks? You would risk the kid's life rather than make the father wait three weeks?

Michelino, do you agree with the methods and motives of Clinton-Gore-Reno? As in Waco, couldn't there be a better way. In Waco, couldn't Koresh have been simply arrested on one of his forays downtown. In this case, shouldn't Justice have gotten a court order. Then if the family would not have turned Elian over they would have been in contempt of court. The Clinton regime doesn't seem to respect the lawful and reasonable approach. If Gore is elected president we could see Clinton, Reno or both on the Supreme Court. Scary.
