The more mature were more likely to favor reunification of the family by any means necessary, you'll notice .... because, imho, they are more likely to have been parents.

It won't take long to get over the crammed-into-a-closet episode in the hands of a truly loving family - news.excite.com

No,

The right of a loving father to have custody of his son far outweighs the needs of the wacky right for icons of paranoia.

So it is this picture that most of us Americans will remember and cherish from today:

along with

I have read that Elian believed (or was led to believe) that his mother was still lost at sea and that he needed to remain in Miami until she showed up. If this is true, his father is the best person to help him understood the truth and overcome a six-year-old's understandable delusions. Regardless, in the eyes of the world and a substantial majority of Americans, Elian has always belonged with father since his discovery at sea.

The Miami relatives will be left to console themselves with moneys from the inevitable book deals, payoffs from tabloids and royalties from trashy teleplays. All the things that publicity hounds crave.

Look closely at the question asked in "the poll".

"...``If the Miami relatives who currently have custody
of Elian Gonzales, the six-year-old Cuban survivor, refuse
to hand the child over to his natural father as possibly
ordered
by court, should the INS forcefully remove Elian
from the home?'..."

Now... WHAT Court ordered the Miami relatives to hand over the child?

The Hillary Supreme Court?

The Reno Family Values Court?

The Reno "According to the Law and the Evidence Court"?

The Court of Jack-Booted Storm Troopers?

The Court of Might Makes Right?
