Captain, More on the Intel/AMD leading indicator, saying PC OEM demand is accelerating. Intel, AMD say a 3Q explosion is ahead are increasing capacity. Microsoft will soon admit that it was too conservative about expectations of when PC OEM demand will pick up. They may wait a few days to weeks.

"In a conference call with analysts this week, Intel acknowledged it
underestimated demand from PC OEMs for four consecutive
quarters, leading chief financial officer Andy Bryant to say this
week that "when you have four quarters above normal, there's the
possibility that you were wrong." Intel said it is increasing its
capital expenditure plans for 2000 upward, by $1 billion to about $6
billion"

johnd -- agreed the 1.88 is the low end of earnings as things stand,, how much are the 140 law suits going to take of that plus how much more over the next 5 years or more...
