Tero: Wonderful. Your limb may be strong. And you may be right.

My simple question is what is in the best interest of Nokia and Nokia's stockholders? Betting 100% on DS, or participating in both the upgrades to MC on current spectrum and being prepared for DS - when and if DS appears as a practical commercial option and in whatever form that may be?

This would mean Nokia would be prepared to equip both MC and DS in the new spectrum - in the clearly defined MC or the yet to be defined DS in whatever form DS takes commercially and wherever either is adopted.

Best. Chaz

Don't forget: QCOM doesn't care what "flavor" of 3G people choose cuz "all roads lead to QCOM." This ironclad fact notwithstanding (mgmt. has said so!), the posturing about applying for a 3G license in Japan shows just how mighty QCOM is. DDI, DoCoMo et al. are trembling in their futons, because they know QCOM, with its vast experience in the mobile wireless carrier business via that world-renowned gorilla, Leap Wireless (not to mention their deep knowledge of the Japanese market and many obsequious partners there who are at QCOM's beck and call), will quickly make mincemeat of the Japanese market. Quickly, though, QCOM will withdraw its threat so that the Japanese can get back to sleep or whatever. But they will always be looking over their shoulder, because they know how easy it would be for QCOM to take over their whole market with cdma2000. That will teach DoCoMo not to go to the sauna with NOK!
