>I personally think the father is an absolute coward. Why wasn't he over here right away?

I, and most fathers and people in this world, like the guy. He was not over here right away because they never ensured him that he will take rightful custody of his son.

>Why was he "afraid" to go to Miami or a neutral site and meet?

Again, because they never ensured him that he will take rightful custody of his son.

>The actions of Reno and her cohorts are cowardly.

God Bless her, my respect for her substantially increased...but why did she wait for so long?

>They didn't pursue reasonable steps before using the "goons."

LOL.......I am starting to think you are ZilchTan's twin brother now<ggg>

I'm sorry, but I cannot agree with your characterization of federal INS agents as "goons." These men (and one woman) had no idea what they would face when they went in; law enforcement agents never do. They shot no one, wounded no one, beat no one. They did their job in just 180 seconds and left. I really don't see any basis to defame these good public servants, who stood willing to risk their lives in a quarrel in which they had no personal stake.

If to you every policeman and law enforcement agent is a "goon", then I guess we'll just have to disagree on terms.
