they bothered to get a warrant?
Yes, they had a warrant. You may be referring to reports that they did not seek a separate court order (which is different than a warrant). I court order is generally not issued unless the warrant has been issued but could not be served.

<...the ones with the biggest guns make the rules.>

That is why the gov't is so hot to disarm the population. By the way, why don't we have "Gun-Ed?" With all the danger guns present, shouldn't we be practicing "safe guns?" Some of them are obviously "going to do it anyway," so why don't we educate them?

Shame on our "leaders" and their jackbooted thugs. Washington, Franklin, Jefferson et al must be rolling in their graves about now.

They had a search warrant, specifically for Elian with permission to search and remove. It was issued Friday night. Lead INS negotiator quoted in Washington Post that he felt like he was minutes away from compromise and was as surprised as any one that it happen while he was on the phone on behalf and at the instruction of Reno.

<The law is that the ones with the biggest guns make the rules.>

Hasn't that been the case throughout all of modern history?
Albiet, The way the Govt. removed Elian from his uncle's home was overdone. The fact remains why should an uncle have greater control over a child more so than his own Father?

This event will go down as another one of the great debacle's in American history. Thanks again to the bottom fishing Lawyers. Fortunately no blood was shed for the stupidity of both parties.

The fact remains his Mother tried to bring him to another country, she failed. Now, the sole custody reverts back the the childs Father and his wishes. CASE CLOSED!
