Re:AMD is shipping more hi-speed parts than Intel

Maybe next time, I'll refrain from making statements based on confidential information that I cannot reveal

You could presumably indicate whether your confidential information covers both sides of the equation. I assume you know only that Intel are shipping a reasonable supply of processors at speeds > 800 MHz and infer that this is more than AMD are shipping based on an assumption that AMD's binsplits this quarter are comparable with last quarter?

I am not sure that this assumption is valid. I have not seen estimates as to what percentage of Athlons were downbinned last Q but it could have been 100% for all I know. Certainly it seems like successful overclocking of a slow Athlon is a given, and sometimes they can be clocked up by outrageous amounts.

My fault. Maybe next time, I'll refrain from making statements based on confidential information that I cannot reveal. Perhaps that's one reason why PB decided not to post to SI anymore.

Tenchusatsu,

I think PB decided not to post on SI anymore because actual events, as they unfolded, did not support the claims he had made previously on this thread.

BTW is PB in his new position now a confidante of Barret, Otellini and/or Bryant? Because that's the only way I will believe there is any credibility to your so-called confidential info. Funny how Intel employees violate their NDA's and post confidential info only where it supports their position.

ted

BTW it seems that markets are not buying into your argument either....the trend has been generally down since Intel's CC.

Tench re <<Maybe next time, I'll refrain from making statements based on confidential information that I cannot reveal. >>

Good idea.

Re <<Perhaps that's one reason why PB decided not to post to SI anymore.>>

Don't think so. PB's "confidential sources" turned out to be VERY WRONG with regard to the Coppermine ramp. He also sold his AMD at $52 which I am sure has something to do with his absence.

Tench,

PB should not pass confidential information to you since you are not in his work group. The information helped you on your Intel/AMD investment. This is insider trading FYI.
