I know enough about development etc. I know how much alike the Apple OS-X version and a Linux version of Office will be. Additionally, even the Windows version of Office runs on Linux today using Wine, as far as I remember, which means that the work that has to be done is quite small compared to the size of MSFT.

If, on the other hand, if the baby-Bills are allowed to center all their development on the Windows operating system, then a break-up would make no sense at all. (You can discuss whether it does anyway)

No matter what results this DOJ case brings, I don't believe the stocks will go below $45. MSFT is down now, and I don't believe it will go up much soon, but if MSFT prepares a secure, stable future now, a steady growth may be the reward.

I have no interest in running Microsoft into the ground. Right now I would buy at $40. In december, I warned one of my friends about MSFT stocks. Right afterwards, the stock jumped to $120 and he laughed at me. I replied, that I thought he was investing for the long term. Now we are at $68, and he doesn't seem to laugh any more. This is about cool cash and I take this very seriously.

It is true that I do run Linux AND Windows, but without running software from the competition in a serious way you have no idea what you are talking about. I do.
