Whups <<...and no requirement for our kids to have any commonality of literature, history, science.>> You still have an accreditation system in place that requires the basic academic foundations. Most good private schools are accredited because the parents and community want the transcripts and records to carry weight beyond the school. The fact that there is a moral climate as well is what takes such private schools a step ahead of the public schools.
