It was never a win- win situation.... Joan brings in the children of Haiti, you bring in those of the projects. I would love to take good care of all children, but I am afraid that parental rights would not survive such an ambition, and the expense of providing each with a good family would be prohibitive. But in Elian, we have those prepared to care for him, without being bribed, and they are already US citizens. We have a mother who sacrificed her life to escape Cuba, and doubtless complicated matters by taking Elian. And we have a father who cannot be ignored. There is now a responsibility to deal judiciously with the matter. That seems to me to be the main issue........
