Curt,

Four points that Ken said made a great impression on me.

1. Our switch is unique (he said it two or three times during the conference call). It allows legacy devices (private FC_al devices) to also participate in switch mode (i.e. fabric mode).

2. Mark Gundy asked if Ancor's switch is the switch of choice for the Connectrix system. Ken laughed and said he hadn't heard that. Ken said it will depend on how well Ancor will do in terms of support, training, etc. Later Ken said (towards the end of the conf call, answering someone else's question) Brocade was there first because of Clariion. And, Clariion basically uses 8-port switches. Connectrix system users will use primarily 16-port switches. I got the impression that EMC will use Ancor's 16-port switch for the Connectrix system unless Ancor mess up.

3. Ancor is actively contributing to a core group (level 1 group) which consists of Intel, IBM, CPQ, Dell, HWP, SUN, MSFT in Infiniband.

4. At closing, Ken said Year 2000 will be the breakout year for Ancor. The future is brighter than ever.

More from InfoStor - SCSI over IP on GE opinion:

From this month's opinion section entitled "SANS and sensibility: back to IP":

is.pennwellnet.com

The author describes how the big LAN switch vendors plan to grab SANs for themselves with a packetized SCSI over IP and GE standard.

Isn't this how we got GE in the LAN in the first place?

George

Technocrat, Lots of people would gladly give you more than a penny for your thoughts regarding todays events. Thanks in advance.

I see how this helps QLGC, Any impact on BRCD? SUNW? EMC?

Who buys QLGC?
Who does BRCD go after?
Have you heard anything?

Also to those who heard the cc. Does the ANCR name cease to exist? Any other tidbits from the call for those of us who can't listen. Thanks in advance.

OPEN Q. I am assuming that all options have to be vested at the time the transaction is complete? Does this mean that perhaps some of the ANCR stock sales were to raise cash to buy the options?
Did ANCR say anything about the SUNW warrants? What will happen to them? SUNW will get QLGC warrants?
