<< This child is being used for blatantly self-serving purposes by everyone concerned except his father, and that's wrong. >>

Wrong, absolutely wrong. Let's look back at history.

---> Elian was rescued, in bad shape, both mentally and physically, from the waters off Miami's coast.

---> Our government asked Elian's extended Miami family to care for him.

What would you have done, if you were Elian's family? Would you have said NO.

---> Elian's father would not come to the U.S. to get his son, for MONTHS!

---> Elian's Miami family cared for his mental and physical wounds.

---> Castro tried to turn Elian's plight into an international event.

The Miami Cuban Exiles family didn't force or order Castro to take advantage of Elian's misery. Castro made it a political event in his country.

---> Elian's father still wouldn't come to this country to get his son. (Castro was probably afraid of Juan Gonzalez fleeing to freedom, also.)

---> Finally, Elian's father came to this country, but went to the Maryland home of Castro's thugs. Back in Cuba, Castro was holding Juan's family as hostages, making sure Elian's father would not pull a fast one.

You know the rest. At first, the Miami Cuban Exile family were only interested in healing sickly Elian, and having Elian taste freedom, which his mother died to give him.

Castro, one of the world's only living piece of dung, festers on other's misery. Blame Elian's Cuban Exile family, if you will, but don't turn a blind eye to the sub-human Castro and his thugs.

The Cuban exiles hate Castro, and want to be rid of him. I would too if I were in their shoes.

You are in their shoes. All of us are Americans. Physical characteristics or heritage of an individual does not determine truth, justice, liberty or freedom.

It is not correct to say, "just because it is true for you, doesn't mean it is true for me."

Wrong! The father is being used by Castro.
