Ed,
They are out of fashion now. Wouldn't this be a good time to position? When they recover the div. percent will be about the same as treasuries so what's the point of buying them then except for tax preference on the div. Some of the REIT's I looked at are paying 30% and a couple at more than 100%, i'm not buying those. I guess the investor needs to take a close look. How closely do you think the people on Voltaire's porch looked at ELON above 90 and are looking at it now at 30? I am using this strategy for the income part of my portfolios. I know investors who bought years ago and with div. increases they are getting more than 25% ROI each year. I don't think they even know that the prices have come down so far or even care about it for that matter. They seem more interested in travel and vacations.
Every investment has risk and thanks for pointing out that REIT's have a downside also.
