It looks like Reno's kidnapping was illegal too.

One thing Reno has done is to impress on everyone - young and old alike - is that when you lose in court you can still win at the point of a gun. Imagine pointing that gun at Elian's saviour! What a terrible example Reno has provided.

btw, I remember you were one those embarrassing Left wing shills that denied that Clinton had any relationship with an intern too.

Here's the moral high ground you're standing on.

Why is it that you right wingers always scramble to stake out the moral low ground?

Why do you presume that I am a "right winger" just because I can see right from wrong in this case?
Would you call a supporter of George McGovern in 1984 a "right winger"? Would you call someone who believes that many workers need the protection of unions a "right winger"?
Would you call someone who condemned the bombing of trains, bridges and television stations in Yugoslavia a "right winger"? I support various causes on the left, right and middle of the political spectrum, and this is because none of them individually has all of the answers that would serve us best. Yogi

As for the use of force to return the child, it was totally unnecessary and uncalled for. Janet Reno's own friend of 30 years (whose name escapes me at the moment), was very close to a peaceful settlement when the government storm troopers violently kidnapped the boy from his relative's house. This will go down in history like the Waco incident, in that it was a very embarrassing day for America, and shows us what some people in positions of government power will do just to get their own way. This is very dangerous thinking by the American "powers that be", and in my opinion, it was a totally un-American way to react to the developing situation. Yogi
