Janet Reno's own friend of 30 years (whose name escapes me at the moment), was very close to a peaceful settlement when the government storm troopers violently kidnapped the boy from his relative's house. Janet Reno's long time friend is Sister Jeanne O'Laughlin president of Barry Univerity down in Florida. barry.edu If I remember correctly, Janet Reno originally invited her to help settle this affair. Except the good sister went against Reno's wish(order from Clinton/Castro) to force the boy back to Cuba. Let's see who on the thread will be the first to call the sister a "right-winger"

I see the use of force was absolutely needed to return the boy to his father. No negotiable settlement was made possible given the circumstances, the recalcentent behavior of the extended family holding the child against the INS and DOJ's wishes. As to upholding the law: I thought that Florida law states that a child belongs with his surviving parent?" Don't let reason get into the way of the anticastro thought process. When a child is born in Cuba lands in the U.S. by surviving a selfish mother who risks the life of her 5 year old child to travel in an unsafe, open boat in shark infested waters so she could be with her boy friend in Florida then the law changes to: Custody should be given to the first member of the child's extended family or anyone at all able to get on TV with the loudest messge against the Cuban government and its political system dispite the fact that the child has an adequate father with a proven ability and desire to be the parent. The child-parent bond should not have any weight at all under these special circumstances, and any comment regarding the consequences of breaking the child-parent bond for political reasons should be quickly smothered or out screamed by loudspeakers and anticastro chants.
