Technical analysis (which is the use of charts to give you signals to trade) is the use of indicators and patterns or trendlines

triangle breakout is a terminology where prices are contained in a triangle (there are many kinds), and then breakout.

In the naz comp example, i was looking either at a downward trend channel breakout (which happened today) or a triangle (since we got a breakout, the triangle scenario was negated)

here is a site to use to learn about patterns. I do not recommend the site itself, but only for information on the triangles itself.

chartpatterns.com

i dont think the site itself is good...

feel free to ask questions.
