As for Sun, I question Bill Joy's motive in writing the Wired article,"Why The Future Doesn't Need Us." wired.com The idea that a man who grew up in the nuclear era would all of a sudden feel that technology may kill us off strikes me funny. Perhaps he is calling for gov't intervention so that Sun can hardwire its future the old fashioned way - payola and power politics. Given the way Sun obtained the Stanford University Network (Sun) technology in the first place, and the way they are using the Justice Department against Microsoft, I wouldn't put anything past these guys.
