Jim, basically true...of course, one has to keep in mind that inflation is indeed accelerating at a pace not seen in a long time: csf.colorado.edu that suggests to me that much more than a quarter point may ultimately be necessary. i know, everybody (including myself) is assuming that Greenspan won't do anything to harm the equity markets. however, if the recent pace of inflation acceleration keeps up, he may have no choice. regards, hb
