He did what he could at the moment-he wasn't even sure where Elian was- so he called MIami to say he suspected they might be on their way and please help them. As soon as the father arrived in America and the family was requested to turn over the child, they should have done so. The community has no legal claim in the disposition of this boy. Oh those bad, bad Miami Cuban exiles. They wanted their family together. They wanted their family to live in a free country. Wow! Bad, bad, bad! I can see why you are against them! <g> Now here's a REALLY intelligent comment. When all else fails and you have nothing worhtwhile to say, you can make up some negative things about me and pretend I said things I never did. Very good.
