Anthony rants and raves in various directions while the underlying common current, it seems to me, is anger and the desire to tear apart. In his earlier career it was achieved at the hands of clients. I don't mind if, now, he wants to destroy companies like those he used to work for but when he wants to throw everything but himself into his overladen and overworked new bag, it suggests a loss of perspective.

First, I do not think Gilder should take lock-up dates into consideration with respect to his comments, or their timing, in his letter, even if he does know about them. But I would prefer that he not even know about them or even try to know about them. He should spend his time doing what he does best. He should say what he sees when he sees it, period.

If he considered lock-up dates at all it would it not constitute a compromise of his principles? Further, Pat has made a convincing case that lock-up dates have intricacies and complexities that make them almost deserving to be a separate area of study. In fact, if I didn't have "page down" I would be looking for an Elian like pescadoro to fish me out of lock-up date confusion. I hope Gilder isn't wasting any time on this issue. We have a guy who can provide an entertaining and insightful understanding, and a more than fairly accurate articulation of his vision, on an area of importance to us all (in one way or another). Why does anyone want to try to turn him into an accountant? (The IRS is doing a good enough job in that respect on all of us. Even Anthony would agree. No?)

Pat: You are a fine research person. And you have shown vision and excellent analytical skills. And you have made quality substantive posts which I have learned greatly from on the SDLI and JDSU threads. My concern here is that you seemed to be making a personal attack on George Gilder's integrity - based upon what?

Is it that you have discovered that a lock out period ends May 3? And that makes George Gilder guilty? Of what?

Those of us who have followed George Gilder and subscribed to his letter for years understand that he concentrates on technologies - not stocks. That is what he provides insights on. If others choose to be foolish with regard to what he says, would you? I doubt it. You would be careful in your independent research and analysis, no? While others are highly unlikely to be as thorough as you are, why do you think George Gilder is to blame for the foolishness of those who "play" his letter - which is not what he is about.

My problem is that you seem to be giving support to those such as Anthony@Pacific.

Still puzzled what your complaint about George Gilder is. What should he be doing in his letter (which is not a letter touting stocks, but a letter explaining trends in technologies as he sees them)? What would you suggest?

Best and respect (usually - but puzzled here)
