nor should we want our most talented graduates to be teaching third graders. If they teach, let them teach in colleges and universities. Let them become researchers, scholars, entrepeneurs, politicians, judges, military officers, and so on.....

Perhaps not the most talented graduates, but if we keep classifying grade school teachers at the bottom of the economic heap, and attracting the proportional level of quality, the university professors are not going to have much to work with. Then what happens to the next generation of researchers, scholars, entrepreneurs, etc...?
