Howdy, ole 49r. I see there's been a fracas about your constructive criticisms, so allow me to jump in and welcome you to the thread. It's not as tough a crowd as you might imagine from the reception you've gotten, but it takes time to get used to our frank manner of discourse. Nobody's immune to getting jabbed, including yours truly, but nobody's got an ax to grind either. If we seem a little chatty, it's because we've been together for a good while, shared some success, and feel comfortable with each other on a personal as well as an investing level. We're very serious about our investing, but since we don't trade, we have a pretty leisurely flow to our discussions. In spite of this, I feel our signal to noise ratio is among the very best on SI. As far as the Portfolio Parade is concerned, those of us who have been G&King for a while find it to be a fascinating and valuable series of posts. As far as many of us are concerned, the self critiques and anecdotal evidence offered are of as much value as the eventual summation. I'm amazed at the candor of the posters, and proud that we have created an environment where they feel comfortable with their peers. I hadn't thought of the impact on the search function, but can recommend an alternate; Erickerickson is kind enough to present a sorted list of posts every month. You can find his latest update (along with the thread faq) at Subject 33114 >> In fact, it makes one wonder what constitutes a G&K innie or outtie in the first place! The "innies" are anyone who has read the GG, use Geoff Moore's approach to investing in tech stocks, and wish to participate in polite discourse about Gorillas and Kings. Some of them, like Apollo, make generous contributions to the thread, while others prefer to mostly lurk and post only when the topic turns to an area of their expertise. I hope you hang around and read the thread for a while. If you find it fits your style, feel free to jump back in. uf
