Dennis - Never heard of the song or the group, but from that one line it sounds like it would have been a great tune. If it had been played it the DC area, I'm sure I would have remembered it as 66-67 was a time during which I spent a lot of time listening to top40 radio.

On reflection, back then there were a lot of regional hits. DC had quite a few local groups with popular songs: Fallen Angels, Bob Brady and the Concords, the Hangmen, the British Walkers (who I think was lead by the great guitarist Roy Buchanan). I don't think that would be possible with today's homogenized playlists.
