Terry, in my first post on this topic I mentioned I do tai bo ( kick-boxing) twice a week for my aerobics, and I agree totally. The most efficient use of time for maximum benefit- when I'm on the road I run ( is that a joke?) and it is so boring now.

Terry, Good for you. I have worked out with some kick boxers who were trying to become wrestlers and they are tough dudes.

As Clarence Bass says in "Challenge Yourself," the idea is to find an activity or activities that you like and progress with it. He has great praise for Dr. Len Schwartz, the inventor of Heavy Hands. Schwartz's routine would bore me to death and not give me what I want out of a workout, but it works for him and millions of others. Ditto for kickboxing, judo, karate, boxing, etc. The workouts are wonderful conditioning. The getting kicked in the face during a match is not as good. <g>

Terry,

I know exactly what you are talking about. I usually take step classes, stand in back, and enjoy the view. In these classes (unlike kick-boxing), the room is usually 80-95% female. Cool.

Some of the step classes involve some kick boxing like moves, but I've never taken a whole class because my only chronic injury is lower back. I fear that if I slip in form, my back could get killed while kicking. It's a legit fear, isn't it?
