What is the source for this "5 minutes from a deal" information announced on WABC?

This is the testimony of Aaron Podhurst who thought he was Reno's negotiator with the family and community leaders.

Actually, what he was was a sock puppet on Reno's left hand, distracting the family from the punching glove filled with a horse shoe on her right hand.

Moral, never drop your guard around Reno.

You mean that you hope Elian and the Cuban government have a wonderful life together, because in Cuba, all children are "wards of the state".
The "five minutes to a deal" statement came from Aaron Podhurst, a negotiator in the house the morning of the raid, and Janet Reno's friend of thirty years. Of course, he did not know that when he asked for the five minutes, that they would be breaking down the door right after that. Reno "stabbed him in the proverbial back". Yogi
