ScumbriaAs a long time industry veteran, I have never seen a company execute as well as AMD has the last two years. They are running roughshod over Intel, in a disciplined, clockwork fashion. I don't disagree.During the January, 1999 "late mask fix crisis", there was a lot of misunderstanding as to what was going on with the company. I spent much time then trying to convince people that things were going well, and got somewhat frustrated by the level of dissatisfaction being expressed on the thread. I know you did...you were one of the few believers for a long time. And it wasn't easy.....you took a lot of sh*t for your position. I may be hypersensitive over this, but I just don't see how they could be doing any better without the benefit of 20-20 hindsight. Here lies the concern that I have.....isn't your statement above close to the comments made by Intel longs all last year? They would become hypersensitive whenever Intel was criticized. It seems to me that its better to point out a potential problem and be proven wrong, then to ignore anything out of the ordinary and claim everything is fine. As for Dresden, I believe that AMD had ample warning (since last fall) that Intel was not performing; that there was an opportunity to sell more chips; and that they had better speed up the ramp of Dresden. In this situation, I don't think I am asking AMD to use 20/20 hindsight; however, tell me if you disagree. If you think so, then I will drop it.Atiq wanted to sell Dresden. We should thank our lucky stars that he moved on to bigger and better things. As for Atiq, I think you know where I stood with this issue when he left AMD last June. Selling Dresden would have been the major screwup of the 21st century IMO. ted
