You may be right about who wins the broadband war but in the meantime I am one of T's cable subscribers and words cannot express what a joy it is.

I also agree that there is no comparison between T and WCOM.

T is attempting to squeeze life out of its existing infrastructure by spending billions. Yet the imbeciles at T are maximizing their assets for voice traffic, which will effectively become a free service in just a few short years! Just read the prospectus for their recently spun-out AWE. Check the poor technology choices that will make HDR wireless upgrades difficult and much more costly than competitors.

WCOM, on the other hand is strategically building a global set of assets, wireless included, that will concentrate on higher margin data traffic. As voice pricing approaches zero in several years, WCOM will have wrung out unnecessary MCI overhead and diversified its revenue streams to wireless and data. Combine this with WCOM's proposed acquisition of Orange--who was recently awarded a 3G license--and you have a forward thinking global powerhouse. Compared to a riduculously myopic T.

Ok, I'm off my soapbox.

P.M.Freedman,good comparison between Amsrtrong and Ebbers.
I hope AT$T will not go now to 30, because, that can put an additional pressure on WCOM price.
At first WCOM has to go to 50 and after AT&T can go even to 30. Every Amstrong's merger is a failure, he will destroy Excite& At Home as well. Like Compaq destroyed a Digital.
Good luck to You,
