The risk is technical imbalance. Looking at the shorts each month and the movement of lead market makers; you have a feeling for the popularity of the AMES stock which caused the shorts. On the other hand, Salomon, Smith Barney is conservative, and cautious on any new announcements forth coming. If the first quarter is good, as expected, because of Easter; then the stock will have a momentary lift. The shorts are averaging above $22; so the resistance seems to be at around that. Until, the market makers decides to move the shorts' average up, this stock is not following the fundamentals of Ames' balance sheets.

Fortunately, AMES is moving ahead on plan and the earnings is expected to be up in double digits(33%). Long term investors are not greedy. Averaging down is costly and not wise because of risk, and time is money; unless you have cash with no place to go.
