The argument you're getting is not that Elian's rights are subordinate to Juan Miguel's rights, it's that Juan Miguel is Elian's official advocate. That's standard operating procedure in the real world. He speaks for Elian. If you want to charge that particular windmill, you're free to do so, but getting smacked by a windmill is less likely if you acknowledge it's a windmill.

Juan Miguel is under the control of castro

Juan Miguel is not speaking for Elian, castro is.

Even if Juan Miguel claims to speak for Elian, Elian can point his finger and say "No Papa, no!"

Elian's rights are not Juan Miguel's to dispose of.

If we can quit rehashing those values questions, then maybe we can finally focus on the practical, real-world considerations: U.S. law, international law, whether this is an immigration issue or a custody issue, jurisdiction, and authority. These determine what will happen. Not sentiment.

As much as I like to read what you write, I have to dissent a little on the above.

You see, it is a good idea to keep the radicals busy, preferably concentrated on the irrelevant. *g* (I think you told me "it is good to know what they are up to")

Therefore, if we allow the radicals to start concentrating on relevant and important issues, then their potential danger to society increases, given the fact that they could accidently succeed in their agendas.

So, it is best to le them go in circles performing their cult-like chants.

The benefits are:

1. It exposes their fanatism.

2. The entertainment is superb. (most times)

See what I mean ?

As a teenager, I took the name of Saint Joan of Arc when I was confirmed

Oh my... I assume "burning at the stake" was not part of whatever you were "confirming". *g*

As an undergraduate I wrote my thesis on Don Quixote.

This explains it all... No wonder why you are so good at dealing with... er... well, never mind.

"Reading Don Quijote and his exploits is a lot of fun. Believing in what he did will make you crazy."

[I know I read this somewhere, but I can not remember where or who wrote it.]

p.s. I think my theory of the embargo being lifted before Castro's departure did not impress you.

must go, trading has started.
