I agree. I don't see that a lot of people would be too upset that motherboard will not work with the next chip, that is just the way it has been. Also the cost of the motherboard is probably small compare to the cost of the next high end CPU. Mani, Sorry but it is annoying. I just had my pc updated in March with a 550 Athlon and a new slot A MB with the intent of going to a faster chip next year. Now that won't work without upgrading to a Socket A. Fortunately my MB has not worked properly since it was installed and is under warrantee. So it will be replaced with a Socket A at the end of the month or in June. However had I not known of the change in MB's and had found out when I upgraded my chip, I would have been p*ssed. If I am correct in how this MB scenario is playing out, then I think its been handled poorly and is not a great way to do business. BTW I am sure there are very sound tech reasons for making these MB changes but it still sucks. ted

Different mobo, OK,,, no mobos...real bad... Hopefully AMD is taking care of this. Jim

But think about the motherboard makers who have a bunch of KX133 motherboards. K75 wafer starts are over and only those processors will work in KX133 motherboards... The good thing is Jerry was adamant about the chances this Q being better than last Q during the shareholders meeting. So the financial world has nothing to worry about if they are looking for profits.
