optical-editor, your post is filled with unsubstantiated claims. The good news is that the company will do 44 billion this year and maintain a similar growth path in the optical, wireless, optical component and microelectronics division going forward. Terabeam is still on the drawing board, NT is losing dozens of key employees as well...they are telling customers what to do no more than their competitors. Btw, ATM is NOT going away. If you are in the industry, you should know that the ILECs can only deliver voice over ATM in the local exchange. 250 million is a small price to pay for that product. The ATM switch business at LU is growing in revenues very rapidly. The anchor that you can call the enterprise group i going to be thrown overboard. There are plenty of reasons to like LU over the next few months. you sound like one of the biased morons from lightreading. Are you? tp

You ask where the good news is?

Well, last Friday we closed at 62 3/16 and this Friday we closed at 58 5/8 so we're only down 3 9/16 for the week or roughly 5.73%

Maybe next week?.......Anon

optical-editorSetting up spin-in startups based on ATM (Ignitus) when the world is moving away from ATM
optical networks may play increasing role in sending data, voice and image over long distance, but they can not well distribute, manage and transform signal from "photons into electrons"
Remember we are living in the real world networks.
Ever heard about OC-48 and OC-192 on switch-router.
About switch-router with independent ip/mpls and atm protocols.
Look what SBC Comm. is doing(Pronto),Bell South or Bell Atlantic.
In Europe Brithish Telecom or France Telecom.
They are basing they infrstructure on IP/ATM!!!
IP/ATM is only gaining momentum.

This however, is not going to help LU to be soon out of very major account in this space.

BTW,any idea when LU will have new IP/ATM switch-router
with 25+ Gbit/s and OC-192 on trials.
Also, when ASND ATM switches will be able to handle fixed wireless like LMDS ( this is becoming huge market)
