He'd been "worked on" already by his Miami relatives. Maybe they are just working him back. You know NOHTING about children. Anyone can influence them. But parents, in most societies, are seen as having the "right" to influence them. That right doesn't depend on them being "good" parents (in our society, anyway) or having "correct" (again, in our society ) ideas. If you can screw someone and get pregnant you are generally seen as having the "right" to raise a child. That's what society "gives" you in this country.

Even you, for example, would have the right (were you able to find someone to mate with) to have a child and raise it in any manner you saw fit as long as you didn't run afoul of the child welfare statutes.

Message 13584777

First, off, I took this to the Elian thread to keep the Laughter thread politics-free.

Hate to do this scarecrow
My foot, you do... <g>

but this might lend a little credence to Mike 2.0's comment

On the contrary, you and Mike 2.0 keep making my point very loudly and clearly: Racial, religious, and ethnic stereotyping are deeply encouraged, and certainly uncriticized, by a demonstrably liberal media -- unless it's a liberal sub-group that?s being targeted. If it's wearing hoods, burning crosses, and tossing chicken bones, it'd never be posted in the "Oddly Enough" (allegedly) humorous headlines. It'd be properly condemned for the racism that it is. Why not condone tossing watermelon at Al Sharpton ? I mean, that?s funny/ironic, no?

When Jesse Jackson calls Rudy Giuliani "mentally ill," it's reported with a straight face and without comment. If Giuliani called Jackson "mentally ill," we'd have no end of hand-wringing. It?s a perpetual double standard.

(and it's also funny, or at least ironic)
Sure ? and those Klan rallies are a real hoot, too.

Finally, I thought we agreed this was a dead horse ? then you take a cheap shot, in public. You disappoint me.

I see, X, Reno kidnapped Elian from the Kidnappers. Now I understand.

You are saying that it is alright for the Miami relatives to Kidnap the child but it is wrong for law enforcement to take the child and return him to his rightful father.

Now it all makes sense.

Vince

PS - I don't know why I keep responding to such crap. I guess just like the Stockholm Syndrome suggests, I have developed an affection for my captors.
