Re: Why would anyone buy a Palm VII?

Well, the Palm V fits in my shirt pocket. Would the VII? Will the Geode based system?

Not implying anything about the prospects for the geode, I just can't get over how convenient I've found the Palm to be :-)

Regards,

Dan

Scumbria, what is the latest on when these (Geode systems) will become available? Also, are these systems functional on ANY ISP? Of do you have to use a proprietary ISP? I think this will be the key to their success. Many of the portables with internet access are being held back because proprietary ISPs are too expensive.

TIA

Dave

Scumbria,

re: Geode devices

Well if they come in less than $500 and provide PC functionality coupled with wireless access then I will be impressed.

Currently i use the proxim wireless network card and use my sony laptop to browse in the living room or by the pool, so at that price I would get one.

regards,

Kash

Scumria,

<I have heard less than 1/2 that cost, and provide fully wireless high resolution web access.>

Unless someone subsidizes these puppies, I wonder who will be eating the cost for the LCDs.

<Why would anyone buy a Palm VII?>

It is unclear to me that these things play in the same segment but if they do, remember Palm VII is the incumbent. The question may be why would someone switch to these devices if they already have a Palm VII?
