Arb,

I have some credit spreads on in AMD, NOK, PFE, (puts), EMC and CMGI (calls).

Very sound strategy to have both bullish and bearish strategies in play at the same time.

What stocks are you looking at currently and do you work the sell legg or do you just put the spreads on by paying up?

I have found that spreads are better off being entered as a spread with a limit between the bid/asked spreads. This gives the market maker two sides to trade against and your chances for splitting the bid/asked are greater.

I have about 10-15 stocks that I have traded for a long time and I am very familiar with their trading patterns and fundamentals. Most are not household names and the options on them are sometimes not very active. Some stocks below $50 with options that are not on my list but that offer many option strategies because of the high premiums are SCH ,NITE, and GBLX. I like the OEX because of the liquidity and use QQQ and HHH for shorting when bearish.

Regards,

Ken
