That would really be the joke of the year, if somebody sues MSFT for this. Everybody should know that this was possible.

A very interesting move was made by the department of defense some time ago - they moved their web-server platform from Unix to Mac (!) The reason was, that the Mac did not have a command line interpreter, which would make it much harder to hack. Interesting view.

In reality this covered the idea, that you should NOT run the same platform as everybody else (closed source security way of thinking). I heard this again with the ILOVEYOU virus - I think we will see many new philosophies come out of this incident.

A more interesting question, IMHO, is whether it is negligent on the part of a company's management NOT to bring suit if the damages suffered are sufficiently severe.

But that's JMHO.
